Owner: Zoe English Horse: Molly Bloom Location: Montclair, NJ I asked Virginia to come and work my very feisty, very green Connemara/TB mare shortly after I bought her last year. She spent the day working on the WESN lesson (responding to cues on the lead rope) and giving to the bit. The next day I was able to take Molly out on the trail for the first time. A few months later, I had Virginia round pen her. After these brief training sessions, Molly was so much more focussed, controllable and attentive to me that I decided to put her in full training at Dancing Horse Farm. In one month I can see a remarkable difference in Molly. I feel I can communicate with her much more clearly and rapidly, and she is a happier horse. She has learned to bend at the poll, do transitions and stop with a minimum of cues, and no rebellion. I especially like Virginia's emphasis on lightness and quick response in both the horse and rider. She is a sensitive, remarkably patient trainer who never loses her cool. Her horses quickly come to understand her clear, logical program. I consider Molly's training at Dancing Horse Farm an indispensable investment towards her future career.
Owner: Ella Horse: Calliope Location: Maryland I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for the wonderful job you did with Calliope. I never imagined when I sent her to you as an unbroke 2 year old that she would turn out as well as she did. She's just perfect and everything I hoped she would be! Her ground manners are excellent, she trailers like a pro, and she's just a doll to ride. It's such a joy to have a safe, sane horse to work around and to ride. She's so sweet and well-trained that I'm comfortable putting just about anyone on her back. And she's such a trooper on the trails. It's funny to see a little 4 year old leading the silly 11 year olds past the "unidentified scary object to the right of the trail!" Thank you for doing such a wonderful job with Calliope. Don't be surprised if I turn up with another "project" for you in the future! And please feel free to give my name and number to potential clients. I would be happy to tell them of what a great job you did with Calliope!
Owner: Suzy Reid Horses: Amy Grace & Molly Location: Brookville, PA Virginia is such an encouragement. She is always thinking about what is best for me and my situation. She meets me where I am, teaching me from there. Although over the years I have asked some pretty silly questions, she has never once made me feel dumb. She is very sensitive to my abilities, yet challenges me to do my best. During a lesson she makes me feel as though I am the most important person she has to work with that day! Virginia really cares about my progress, making sure that I understand what she expects of me and why. (To me the why is an important part of my learning process). Her lessons reach beyond the normal "tack up and go". Virginia often suggests that I read "this book", "attend that clinic" or "check out this web site she found". If she doesn't have the answer, she finds it or sends me to someone who does. She is always saying "let me share with you what _____ taught me." Virginia is not only a teacher ... she is a student. Over the last three years, she has given lessons to my 14 yr old daughter, my 6 yr old son and to me. She has also worked with all three of my Morgan horses, ranging in age from two to sixteen. I have been very pleased with Virginia. |
